Curriculum

We strive for excellence in teaching and learning and encourage each individual to reach his/her potential by:

  • reviewing and evaluating our policies in the light of curriculum developments
  • modifying our teaching practices to meet the needs of our students
  • challenging all staff to participate in ongoing professional development
  • working in partnership with parents to provide relevant home learning experiences
  • providing appropriate learning opportunities for gifted and talented students
  • integrating technology across all Key Learning Areas

Throughout the day students are involved in a variety of learning experiences in the Key Learning Areas of:

  • Religious Education
  • Human Society and Its Environment
  • Science
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Creative Arts (Music, Drama and Art)
  • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
  • History/Geography

These include experiences in open ended questions, problem solving, investigative and collaborative learning tasks based on theories such as Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, Bloom’s Taxonomy, the four quadrants of learning and Kagan’s cooperative learning approaches that challenge students to reflect on and extend their learning.

Numeracy - This year our school has joined the Extending Mathematical Understanding (EMU) Project. It offers an individual and exciting opportunity for all staff members to develop their understanding of their student's learning in Mathematics.

Below is a link to the Maths Tutorials which we hope are helpful to parents in making Maths fun and meaningful for their children at home.
